Shoreline Stabilization update - Friday, Nov 22

Stairway under construction.  Stepped footings have been completed. Next step: laying concrete block on top of the footings to create the sides of the stairway.

Using a string line to establish a reference for the stairway slope and elevation

Since we had the skid steer for one more day, Steve used the machine to begin cutting a wide terrace just above the top edge of the rip-rap stone.  The finished concrete stairway will exit onto this terrace (will post photos of terrace under construction soon).

Shoreline Stabilization update - Thursday, Nov 14

This is Breeze, Jim Haskin's dog.  She comes to see me every day while I'm working down at the shoreline. She's just a puppy. Her favorite game is to grab a tool out of my bag and run off with it.  Jim says she's a little clepto.  Several of my tools have gone missing since she started coming to visit.

Shoreline Stabilization update - Tuesday, Nov. 12

The first two truckloads of rip-rap stone were delivered today  ( the job should take 4 1/2 dump truck loads ). Staged the stone in the driveway.

From there, we'll move it down to the shoreline with the skid-steer machine.

A family of Mallard ducks stopped by yesterday to check out my progress.

Shoreline Stabilization update - Week 1

The shoreline has been reshaped, and a reasonable slope has been established. Here's a few photos of the work so far.

TVA 26A permit posted

The bottom section of footings - steel-reinforced concrete foundations which anchor the stairway to the lake bed  - have also been dug.
